About Aly
Picking up my paint brush is the place where I find peace and empowerment. It’s where I feel I’m fulfilling what God created me to create.
My artwork is my story— my journey through humanity, womanhood, & motherhood.
Creation is my form of resistance; my way of fighting fear.

ALYHO is a South Carolina–based painter whose work explores themes of womanhood, motherhood, and identity through expressive line work and storytelling.
Aly graduated from Penn State University in 2015 with degrees in advertising, photojournalism, & painting. Expressive line work has been her signature since she first began art classes at 14.
Aly creates work that reflects both personal and collective stories—drawing from individual and shared life experiences her audience can relate to. Painting is her act of resistance, her way of fighting fear, and you can feel that emotion in every piece.

From NYC to Philadelphia & down south to Greenville, graphic designer is a hat I’ve always felt like an imposter wearing. At 30, I finally got tired of that storyline.
I’ve been at it since 2011. Graphic Design is life-giving for my creative & problem-solving spirit.

Writing & storytelling are so strongly woven into my art because they are so strongly woven into me. Writing was the first form of artistic expression I found. It was my english teacher that walked me down to the art room & introduced me to a sketchbook.
I believe good art can be found everywhere, but great art tells a story.

Born & raised in Philadelphia and the youngest child in every way. My parents and my siblings are my heart — and my artwork is an extension of that. Stories of my upbringing are always being woven into my paintings.
